From Passion to Excellence
VelvetDice was born in 2018 when founders Emma Laurent and Daniel Zhao, both veterans of the hospitality and event management industries, recognized an opportunity to elevate the standard of casino-themed entertainment in Canada. After experiencing firsthand the disappointing quality of existing options at corporate events they attended, they set out to create something different—entertainment that combined authentic casino atmosphere with exceptional service and meticulous attention to detail.
Starting with just three vintage-style gaming tables and a handful of trained staff, the company began servicing small corporate events and private celebrations in Toronto. Word quickly spread about their refreshing approach that blended sophistication with genuine fun, and within 18 months, VelvetDice expanded to serve events across Ontario.
By 2021, despite the challenges of a global pandemic, the company had established satellite operations in Vancouver and Montreal, introducing their signature experiences to clients throughout Canada. Today, our team of over 40 dedicated professionals serves hundreds of events annually, from intimate milestone celebrations to large-scale corporate galas and charity fundraisers.
